Hotel Mon Ami

The staff and owner were so kind, and the girls were especially helpful. They can pack breakfast to take away if you're going to Tikal. The dorm was spacious, with mosquito blinds rather than individual bed nets. It was fine as long as everyone kept the doors shut, and each person got a fan. There was a nice choice of drinks and food at reasonable prices. I've recommended hotel mon Ami to lots of friends.

We planned to stay a couple of days and ended up staying a week. The dock on the lake was a great bonus. Esperanza is the best, and the owner lives there too. He's quiet, outgoing, and really interesting to talk with. The staff are great, and the food and rooms are good for what you pay.

The rooms were pretty and clean, and I really liked them. There was just one girl doing most of the work, but she was very nice. After walking all the possible routes at Tikal, my family and I were exhausted when we arrived around 5 p.m. She still kindly offered us lunch and made food for all five of us surprisingly fast. It tasted AMAZING. They served the drinks with metal straws, which was eco-friendly.

Monami has served some of the best food I've had since starting my travels over three months ago. The rooms are plain but practical, with comfortable beds. The bathroom was clean and had hot water. Jungle hotels can be hard to rate because they blend into their surroundings, but Monami made the decision easy.
