Green World was my home for four months during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it treated me very well. The owner, Maria, was wonderful and kindly let me stay through that period. She even made me the best beans I've ever tasted! It's a budget hostel, and the price reflects that. If you need the essentials at one of the island's best prices, this place fits. There are plenty of other options if you're after more luxury.

I wasn't impressed when I first passed by the hostel, but after arriving as part of a tour package I ended up extending my stay by five nights. Both shifts of girls were friendly and open. They smiled, helped out, and knew a lot about the tours, including which companies were better to avoid. They never pushed us to book through the hostel, and were considerate and hardworking. For the price, you get a comfortable bed, free water, good internet, fans, and a locker at each bed big enough for a large backpack. You can use the kitchen and fridge too, which seemed to be an issue at the other hostels on the island because they were trying to sell meals to travelers and tourists. The place was clean, and they changed the sheets, something I didn't find that often at other budget hostels in Guatemala. I'd stay here again if I came back to Flores.

It was clean, spacious, and quiet enough to rest, while still close to everything. Good value too, since it's one of the cheapest hostels with breakfast, just 10Q more. The receptionist was nice, and they made breakfast whenever you needed it. We needed ours at 4 AM.

For anyone watching their budget, there's a much cheaper place to stay in Flores, Guatemala: Green World hostel. A dorm bed is 50 Q, or 60 Q with breakfast, and there's even a kitchen for cooking. It looks more like a hotel from outside, so here's the tip: it costs almost three times less than the other option.

We like a quiet place without much of a social scene, so this little hostel suited us. We bargained for a great rate on an ensuite room with a fan, and it stayed cool inside. The two women at reception work 12 hours on, 12 hours off, and were still happy to make us breakfast at 4am when we went to Tikal. They were lovely, and we've recommended the place to lots of people we met along the way. Great WiFi and location, too.
