Hotel La Union

I was staying here with seven friends when I got an electric shock in the shower. Afterward, I saw sparks coming from the showerhead. In another room, smoke came out of a switch while one of my friends was showering. When I complained at reception, the staff laughed and suggested it was our fault for taking a hot shower. They said they'd send a technician, but the only fix was replacing the metal shower knob with a plastic one. Sparks were still coming from the showerhead, which I found unacceptable, so I demanded a refund. They said they'd already tried to refund us but “Booking wouldn't allow it,” then refused to refund us and even said we'd have to leave. Apparently no one was in charge at the hotel because the supervisor was away. I asked for his number, but to this day he hasn't answered my calls or messages. This place is dangerous for guests, completely unprofessional, and doesn't care about its customers. Don't let the smiles fool you.

Each night, music from the rooftop next door was blasting into the hotel. On top of that, the cleaners went through my luggage and stole $50 USD.

The rooftop bar was the highlight for me, with a great atmosphere and amazing lake views. I stayed two nights in a clean third-floor room facing the street. It had two comfortable beds, a private bathroom, and hot water that you had to turn on. There was also AC and a fan, and the staff were extremely welcoming. Noise from the street and bar can be a problem, though earplugs should handle it. Keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper. If a bit of noise doesn't bother you, I'd recommend the hotel for its location, friendly staff, and rooftop views.

The rooftop bar has an amazing view, and the staff are really friendly, though the drinks are quite expensive. But if you need sleep, I'd look elsewhere. The rooms just have blinds instead of proper windows, and a street-facing room is extremely loud all night. We also had no warm water.
