Zapote Tree Inn

Eric and Noe were so kind and helpful, and can arrange tours wherever you want to go. We had breakfast there every morning and really enjoyed it. The lake views are beautiful, and staying on this side of Flores was peaceful and enjoyable. It feels a bit like a jungle tree house. My niece and nephew, ages 4 and 6, loved splashing and cooling off in the little pool. Such a sweet place. We loved our time here so much 💖

The outside area was superb, with a small pool, and there was some good fresh food along with a cheap, good selection of drinks. The rooms are clean and basic, with warm showers. The staff were great, and Erik and Noe really made our stay even better. Don't worry about being across the water from Flores. This is a better location, and the guys can take you back and forth. We highly recommend letting them arrange things like the Tikal tour and transfers. Absolutely loved our stay.

The view here, at sunrise, sunset, and all day, is even better than you can imagine. The place sits in the jungle hills, and it was much nicer than Flores island. We hesitated about the boat ride from Flores island or San Benito, but there was no need to. Eric and the rest of the crew were so welcoming, kind, and helpful. They'd take you by their own boat wherever you wanted to go for a small fee, or arrange transport. You can contact them on WhatsApp, and settle everything together afterwards. Peter, the owner, gave us tips for our four day stay, and they can arrange trips to Tikal or elsewhere, and take care of the details. You just have to get up in the morning. The whole hotel feels warm and lovingly built by hand among the beautiful nature. There are lovely little Kolibris around, and the rooftop has spots to relax or do yoga. The food was nice, especially the fruit plates. Rooms can be a little noisy when neighbors leave early, but it didn't matter much. You'll need Moskito protection, though the crew can help with that too. One of the nicest places to stay in the Guatemala jungle, even in Flores. It's a real hidden gem. Go if you get the chance!

The garden and terrace were so lovely, the kind of places you'd want to spend all your time. There were lots of hummingbirds in the area, and it was quite peaceful compared with Flores island. We spent Christmas Eve here, and the guys were absolutely amazing. Exceptional place.
