Hotel Casa Veranda

After just one beer they said we were too drunk, and all they did was hold our luggage. We hadn't done anything to the property. They promised a refund after a surprise cancellation at the end of an otherwise amazing trip, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you care about your experience or your wallet.

The room was huge, and for what I paid it was a terrific deal. Everyone was polite, pleasant and well mannered. Please pay Gabriel double and Andrea triple what they make now. There were problems too. Housekeeping and the lobby desk need to communicate better: one morning my door had a "Don't disturb" sign, but the desk still called to ask about cleaning. Sometimes the power or internet went out, and sometimes there was no hot water. I was told that's Guatemala.

After a 48-hour trip I was exhausted and jet-lagged, so I politely asked for early check-in. They said the room should be ready after 1 PM, but I still wasn't allowed in until 3 PM, even though I had seen the previous five guests leave. The reception staff seemed more focused on chatting with each other than helping or showing any sympathy. I'd already paid, so I had to go through with checking in at 3 PM today, and I regret choosing Casa Veranda. This was the worst hotel experience I've had, and I won't return. If you need to check in early or expect good service, I wouldn't come here.

I asked for the booking to be on the 22nd, but the receipt showed the 23rd. I called right away and was told there were no rooms available for the 22nd. When I asked for a refund, they kept my money. One of the worst experiences I've had trying to book a hotel. That feels like straight-up thievery.
