Wyndham Garden Guatemala City

The buffet breakfast was a highlight, with lots of choices, vegetarian options, fresh fruit, and an omelette station. We also enjoyed the black bean and creamy corn soups at the restaurant. It serves grilled meats and fish, burgers, sandwiches, local dishes, soups, and salads, and the bar offers room service at no extra cost. My daughter and I were in Guatemala City for my birthday on December 19th and stayed at Wyndham Garden Guatemala City from 12/19 - 12/22, 2025. We loved our visit. The hotel is in a popular shopping area within walking distance, with embassies, restaurants, and bars nearby. GUA Airport is about 10 to 15 minutes away in traffic. The staff were courteous, friendly, hospitable, and professional. A bellhop helped with our luggage from Uber and brought it to our room after check-in. Our clean, spacious room on the 16th floor had two queen beds and a city view. It included a flat-screen TV, desk, chair, sofa chair, coffee maker and table, and a private bathroom with a hair dryer, but no mini fridge. We asked for one and it was brought up quickly. WiFi and private parking were free. The A/C felt very cold even after we adjusted it, and the WiFi was often spotty and unstable. Even so, my daughter and I loved our stay. The staff were kind and delightful, and we recommend Wyndham Garden Guatemala City.

We stayed for our honeymoon and left deeply disappointed. When we mentioned the occasion and asked whether the hotel offered any small perk, like a meal or drinks, they couldn’t accommodate us. The rooms were dirty, with bathroom wall stains, a rusty, dirty faucet, and a sink faucet that shifted after each use. Sheets were changed only every three days unless you specifically asked for more frequent changes. After a hike, we got back late and saw dirt marks on the floor from our shoes. We wiped them up with the small bathroom towels. Staff said the dirt had caused permanent damage and the towels couldn’t be reused, then charged us $17USD for replacements. Dirt can be washed out. I’ve never had a hotel object to someone using a towel to clean up dirt or a spill, and it’s not really about the money, it’s the absurdity of making an issue of it after we’d stayed at so many hotels. Don’t stay here. Pay a little extra and choose another chain. We should have stuck with IHG, and I’m taking all Wyndham locations off my list.

For one night before my flight back to the U.S., this was a comfortable, convenient choice. It’s about five blocks from a shopping mall and roughly 10 minutes from the airport. My room was clean and comfortable, just right for a short stay. Service was excellent, and the complimentary breakfast was better than I expected, with fresh fruit and an omelette bar.

The rooms felt modern and were very well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. Reception was friendly and practical, and I liked seeing recycling bins. Breakfast was excellent. The whirlpool was decent, if not amazing, and the gym had a nice range of equipment. The one drawback was the air conditioning blowing straight onto the beds, even on low.
