We absolutely loved the location and had a fantastic stay. The kayaks are free to use whenever you like, which was great. The food was good, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Really good value for money.

The place is beautiful and very peaceful. When the weather cooperates, you can hear nature and see the stars. There are plenty of hammocks to relax in, and the dormitory has a lovely open upper section with treehouse vibes, if you get one of those beds. A few things to consider if you’re backpacking on a budget: there’s no guest kitchen or refrigerator, so you’re limited to restaurant food. They charge for tea, coffee, and drinking water, and someone told us they even charge for hot tap water. The restaurant didn’t offer much variety for vegetarians, so after two meals you’d be eating the same things. Kayaks are free, but the hotel restricts where you can take them. You’re not allowed to paddle to the mainland or up to the castle. The hotel boat service costs 25 per person round trip. I’ve seen most hotels in the area do something similar, but I still found it quite greedy. We would have stayed longer if we could cook for ourselves. Having so few options gave the place a strange feel. They charged us 125Q per person for the boat to Livinston and said mornings cost more. Everyone else on the boat who came from the terminal paid 100Q, and we were the only ones without a ticket. One of the staff members driving their private boat was also very unfriendly and consistently made us feel unwelcome, giving rude answers to simple questions.

The rooms were adequate, and the secluded setting was beautiful. The owner and his welcoming team looked after us well, including helping when we changed our plans at the last minute. My partner was disappointed by how few vegetarian dishes were on the menu. We also had trouble with the lack of soundproofing: the rooms are connected by the boardwalk, and other guests leaving before sunrise woke us.

Such a lovely spot in a gorgeous setting, where you’re right up close to nature. The owner has been in the area for ages and runs the place with a lot of care. It’s affordable too. And Doris die Katze 😘

It’s a short five-minute boat ride from Sundog, and you get two free rides of your choice. The place is basic but has a great vibe, good food, free kayaks, and a sun deck where you can swim in the river. You really feel like you’re in the jungle. Probably the most backpacker-friendly accommodation in the area.
