Dreamboat Hostel

I’d book Dreamboat Hostel again if I were in the mood to party. The staff were good at sorting out my shuttle and bus from Pana to Flores, including a semicama seat from Guatemala City to Flores. They also cleaned the room's garbage up well in the morning. The six-person dorm felt cramped, and people in my room said the same. One toilet clogged, but it was fixed within a few hours. There’s music and a bar, but both shut down and everyone is sent out by 10pm. Some yelling carried on during the night, though it didn’t bother me as a heavy sleeper. I heard someone vomiting in the neighboring dorm at 5am, which I assume was from alcohol rather than food poisoning. I met two people at check-in who were already very drunk in the bar at 5pm, and they even had a beer bong, so be ready for a party hostel. I didn't socialize there myself, since I made friends elsewhere in Panajachel and spent time with them. A staff member let me spend five minutes on the rooftop at 6am, which was the highlight of my stay in Panajachel. I couldn’t try the free breakfast because it starts at 8am and I needed to head out by 7:30am.

This is definitely a party hostel, so it may not suit you if that’s not your thing. The events are really fun, though, and the bar closes at 10, after which everyone heads out, so quiet hours are nice. The staff are lovely and kind, and the food is good for a decent price. The rooms felt a bit tight to move around in. The six-person room had no curtains, while the four-person one did. Despite what I'd heard from others, the shower water was hot.

The staff and activities were phenomenal, and the location was great. I wish I could have stayed longer. My only complaint is that the rooms weren't clean, as other reviews have mentioned. The sheets had blood and a lot of hair on them, and the first room had hundreds of ants. They moved me to another room, which was fine, but it also seemed like it hadn't been cleaned.

The place is right in the town center, near restaurants and the boats, and the rooms and facilities were nice. Staff were welcoming, and the bar had a good menu at reasonable prices. Breakfast is included, with a choice of a typical meal, fruit pancakes, or avocado toast, but it starts at 8am. That's a bit late when so many shuttles and tours leave around then. This is very much a party hostel, so if you want an early night, somewhere else may suit you better. For socializing and partying, it’s a great fit, and quiet hours start at 10pm.
