Hotel el Amigo

The price was great, and breakfast was included at a restaurant about a three-minute walk away. My room was spacious and clean, with an extra blanket if needed, and the shower was hot. It was quiet at night, and the staff were friendly and helpful. No problems for me, and I’d stay again ☺️

The young woman who helped me was very friendly and did her best. Make sure you get the room listed in your reservation. I paid Q90 plus Q20 in taxes for a double room with breakfast, with two breakfast options. The meal is served at El Faro restaurant just around the corner on the main road, not at the hotel. It’s a basic but pleasant hotel for the price. My room was missing blankets, so I had to put on clothes early in the cold morning, and dogs started barking nearby once it got dark, so bring earplugs. I’m also unsure about the location. I followed the signs and stayed at Hotel (El) Amigo, which seems to use both names, at 14.745538,-91.157327. That spot currently has another Hospedaje name, so perhaps they merged or moved. I couldn’t access the place shown on the map.

For about 15 dollars, I got a clean room and breakfast at a restaurant roughly 350 feet away. It’s a very cheap option, so you get what you pay for, but it wasn’t bad for the price.

Hotel el amigo didn’t feel like an amigo to us. The room was dirty, and the sheets were covered in hair and clearly hadn’t been changed. The front desk woman was unwelcoming and unhelpful. In the replacement room, live wires were taped to the shower head, so we couldn’t shower. Two dogs barked nonstop on the roof next to the hotel all night, and the hotel is at the end of a dark alley. We both felt unsafe coming back after dark. The “American breakfast” was a pancake and a banana. Don’t stay here.
