The food was such a surprise, easily the best we’ve had. We often find food disappointing, so it really blew us away. Prices were reasonable, and I’d tell anyone to stop here for a meal. The grounds are attractive, with a variety of plants and interesting old touches. We slept well, though the room itself was basic. We stayed in room 12 at the back on a Thursday night, with a beautiful view and no road exposure. We were the only guests, and the young people looking after the place were very nice. One thing to know: they sometimes book the property for events and close it to the public, so it’s a good idea to call ahead.

The owners and staff were super friendly, and I had a lovely time at the hotel and on the grounds. I’d recommend it as a base for visiting the caves around Coban. Semuc Champey is also nearby if you’re planning a tour and don’t intend to stay there.

The food was really great, and the grounds are beautiful. I stayed three nights in a comfortable room with a queen sized bed, bathroom, and chair. The bathroom had a toilet and shower, though the water was only warmish. There was quite a bit of road noise, but I managed to block it out with white noise.

For the price, the rooms are okay, even if they aren’t the best. My bigger concern was the mice: I spotted two outside, one near the door and another by the window, both trying to get in. It sounded like they had a nest in the false ceiling because I could hear them scurrying around. Breakfast also wasn’t very good, since everything seemed reheated from previous days. Given the price and value, I’d rate it a 6.
