We spent almost four months there after arriving on the island. Trinity especially, and all the other staff we dealt with, were really nice and accommodating. I never had trouble with anyone, even the guests below us who revved their motorcycle late at night were nice people. The upper building hallways were dirty, and the trash cans seemed nearly full again even after they'd been emptied. Still, I'd recommend the place.

This is my second visit, and I found it very accommodating. The price is low compared with other hotels. I’ll be back in April. Time to book! ✌️😂

We had asked for a crib, but it wasn't in the room when we arrived late on our first night. Since there was no staff available, it wasn't brought until the next day, so I spent that night short on sleep and worried my child might fall out of bed. After checking out, we realized we'd left our jackets in the closet and contacted the hotel. They said they couldn't find them. We had made sure the jackets were in the closet before leaving, so we don't trust that response. The service here was poor.

My husband, our three pets, and I were placed at Garden Villa Hotel by Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) because we couldn't find other pet-friendly lodging on Guam. We stayed from June 6th until early July. From the street the property looks maintained, but the living conditions were disappointing and at times unhealthy. The pet buildings are at the neglected rear of the property, right beside the only dumpsters. They were constantly overflowing, with trash on the ground and a foul smell that came into the rooms through the AC. That raised serious concerns for families, pets, and anyone with respiratory or immune sensitivities. A dump site beside the bins, nearly a quarter acre in size, held discarded furniture, appliances, scrap wood, and rusting metal. Other residents warned about possible fleas. Dump trucks and bulldozers were also active regularly, tracking red mud into the streets and walkways outside our rooms. It was almost impossible to avoid, yet another military family was charged $44 for a floor mat their pet dirtied with that mud, even though the hotel's equipment created it. Other problems kept coming up. Water outages and no hot water happened about 30% of the time, often without warning. There was laundry in every building, but most machines didn't work. The pet building had just one washer and two dryers for many people, so we had to send our laundry out because long-term residents constantly occupied them. A nearby guest revved a motorcycle at 2-3 AM, disturbing people across the complex. Several complaints went nowhere. We later heard rooms had been closed because of tick and bedbug infestations, and a neighbor developed a rash believed to be connected to the trash or pests. The Wi-Fi was extraordinarily slow, the rooms outdated, and the plumbing terrible, even on the second floor. At checkout, after we'd cleaned the room thoroughly and stripped the linens to help staff, we were told two towels, a floor mat, and a sheet were “damaged,” so our deposit wouldn't be returned. When we asked what was damaged, they said the items were “dirty.” Used hotel linens will be dirty and should be laundered, not treated as damaged. Staff then said the items had to be sent off-site for cleaning, which made it seem they were labeling them damaged to cover outsourced laundry costs. We escalated it, and the hotel returned our deposits only after we threatened to take the complaint to NGIS. Even so, they filed an internal note falsely claiming we “refused to pay for pet hair and damaged linens,” as if to blacklist us or shift blame. Pet hair isn't damage, and neither is dirt on towels from the hotel's own muddy grounds. Infestations, water outages, and poor hygiene controls are health concerns, not mere inconveniences. We've since moved to a better pet-friendly hotel and urged others to do the same. Several guests have already left over similar problems. NGIS and other travel coordinators should reconsider placing people here, especially families with pets, children, or health concerns. Garden Villa Hotel's operations, maintenance, and treatment of guests in pet-friendly housing fell far below basic hospitality standards. Our stay was unacceptable, and I hope this prompts a serious review.

You get what you pay for here. If you find a disabled or broken fire alarm, report it right away, or they may charge you a $500 fine for something you didn't do. The woman at the front desk with thick eyelashes was very nice.
