The hotel has a quirky layout and an interesting old-fashioned style. Rooms are spacious, though not luxurious. For Bissau it’s a good option, but it costs more than hotels of similar quality in other cities. There’s just shampoo and soap in the rooms. Breakfast is a simple but nice buffet, with tasty baked goods and fruit, including fresh passion fruit. The hotel also provides airport transport.

The rooms are comfortable, breakfast is good, and the downtown location is convenient. The hotel adjoins an excellent lunch buffet, also called the Coimbra, on the next street over. The lobby and terrace get very hot and humid outside the cool winter season. As for the “spa,” there’s some exercise equipment in the basement, but it’s so hot down there that working out is the last thing you’ll want to do.

The rooms are colonial in style and very well equipped, among the best. Some are outside, which gives you more privacy. You can get very good rates if you negotiate for a longer stay.
