Hotel Martell

This is one of my usual hotel choices when I’m staying in San Pedro. The staff are always friendly and accommodating, and the hotel is nice, in a decent location. The beds are super soft, and the rooms have good air conditioning and TVs. They’ve just reopened the restaurant upstairs, and it’s not bad. For a cheap night or two, it’s a great option.

Our double room was spacious, the front desk was helpful and efficient, and breakfast and WiFi were included. Breakfast options were waffles, plato tipico, and a fruit platter. We only stayed one night, and the air conditioner in our room dripped, so late at night we caught the water in a trash bin instead of changing rooms. There are two gated parking lots on the same side of the road, one before and one after the hotel. Two guards can point them out, but the nearby streets are all one way, so getting back to a spot isn’t as easy as just going around the block. A door separates the lift from the room wings, though I’m not sure if it gets locked after a certain hour. Our room had a safe and mini refrigerator, but we didn’t try them. Small food stalls are right outside, with an asado express around the corner and a simple Chinese takeout restaurant two blocks away. The hotel is across from the hospital. The area LOOKS questionable but ISN’T. Our family walked to the Chinese restaurant without any issues. It works well for a short stay.

The shower started out cold but eventually warmed up. Breakfast was always wonderful, and the staff were so sweet. The hosts at the front door were friendly and accommodating every time.

Nice enough place, with very friendly people and good AC and WiFi. The restaurant was so-so. But San Pedro Sula is NOT a tourist destination!
