Beachfront Apartments Anita with heated Pool

I can’t recommend this place. The house has old furniture, there were ants, and even a mouse. The pool is supposedly heated, but it wasn’t. When we tried to discuss it with the owner, he got irritated and shouted, “leave my property.” It’s far from civilization, with no restaurants or shops. We were there with children and had to leave two days early.

Karlobag itself was about 6.5 km from where we stayed, in the next village. That’s a brisk walk of about 1.5 hours. We’d tried to look around Karlobag on Google Earth before the trip, but it didn’t help much. Next time we’ll book in Karlobag and hope the photographer is less creative. The place could have been quite nice, but the accommodation didn’t match the listing photos. You could only see the sea from the terrace while standing upright, and if you were over 175cm tall. The apartment was very dark, with just one blackout window, a blackout front door and a bedroom window. Rainwater came up through the floor drain and smelled awful. The shower head holder was broken, so it wouldn’t stay put. The refrigerator leaked and had no light. The windowless living room was one of the worst parts, with a fold-out bed meant to work as a sofa. That setup may suit some people, but it wasn’t for me. The advertised parking was a narrow, tapered space for at most two cars, and only if the drivers were good at maneuvering.

We were a family of four children and felt very comfortable. Apartment 1, where we stayed as eight people, is suitable for a maximum of nine. The apartment was fully equipped and had a great view and a pool. Neighbors were quiet. The wifi was very slow, so we used mobile internet instead. There are three parking spots above the building, but the space is narrow and enclosed, so you need to be an experienced driver. Parking by the beach under the apartment was also possible and there was always room, with direct access from the apartment. The beach is rocky, with built-in entrances and a bottom of pebbles and smooth round stones. The water is crystal clear, around 15 meters deep, but there isn’t much wildlife. We saw no sea urchins or jellyfish, only starfish farther down over a bleak sandy bottom. Shopping for food nearby is limited, and what’s available is a compromise, with a poor and expensive selection. For more serious shopping, you have to drive to Gospić.
