This was an okay apartment for me, though it could use a little updating. I've stayed in around a dozen apartments, and this one wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't call it luxury. The location is very strategic. We had the cabin in the garden studio; the cooking equipment was quite limited, so we chose not to cook. I'd read comments about the garden being untidy, but it looked fine when we arrived. Ana was friendly, not intimidating like some reviews made her sound, and was pulling grass in the garden. It isn't especially pretty, but I liked the big lime tree. There's also an olive garden at the back with a nice outdoor patio, though we didn't get to use it since we were always out in town. You can hang swimsuits on the back patio. The furniture didn't seem old, and the bathroom was okay and not mouldy. The Wi-Fi didn't work. Ana just asked us to switch off the AC when we weren't using it, and we weren't restricted in how much we could use it.

Once we'd worked through some initial communication problems, the stay was great. Ana was helpful and gave me good tips. My room was lovely and very clean, and the accommodation was quiet and centrally located. The beach is about ten minutes away on foot, and the harbor about twenty. Even the small earthquake didn't stop it from being a really successful stay.

The location was quite good, but the apartment was disappointing after the positive Booking review. Some fixtures were old and mouldy, and the kitchen items were so dirty I had to scrub everything with alcohol before using it. There were tiny ants on the table, and the bathroom door wouldn't close. The TV was mounted where you had to stand to watch, and it had no reception until we fixed the cable ourselves. We got only two towels and one toilet roll for three nights. The host seemed unhappy when we asked, though we did get more. The sheets were only kind of clean, so we used our own blanket.

We paid 2170 euros for five nights for a studio and a studio with patio, expecting something special because the photos made the rooms look like a five-star hotel and the listing was "reassuringly expensive." What we found looked nothing like the pictures on the well-known booking site. The outside was run down and messy, the garden neglected, and the room fittings looked worn and dirty. I noticed wires hanging from the walls, which I think were for the internet, so presumably weren't dangerous. We refused to stay and didn't get to check whether anything worked, though we were told we'd still have to pay. The owner said the high price was because the "Ultra" music festival was coming to town in a few days, but that doesn't justify paying 400 euros or more per night for somewhere in such poor condition. I wouldn't stay there at any price; I want to enjoy my holiday. After the owner agreed with the booking company not to charge us, he threw us off the property and gave me "2 seconds to leave." Three weeks later, he charged my credit card for over £1800. Don't let this guy have your card details!

We enjoyed staying in this quiet, safe area right by Bacvice beach, about a five-minute walk away. The old town is close too. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and the balcony had a decent view.
