Split Palace Luxury Retreat

The position is amazing, close to everything, but calling this a luxury retreat feels like a stretch for one room and a bathroom. There were tea and coffee facilities but no teaspoons or other cutlery, and no table, microwave, or plates. We had one pillow each, one small chair, a tiny wardrobe, and no drawers. When we asked, we were told there were no spare pillows or teaspoons. The online photo showed a kitchenette, and since we couldn’t choose a room, we assumed we’d get that type. The shower was broken. We were told it only needed to be closed gently, and although we got a box of chocolates as an apology, the shower couldn’t be used. It was fixed during our stay after a few requests. The shower is also extremely small and could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. There are two flights of stairs. The blinds don’t block the light, so street lamps shine in, never mind the early morning sun. Communication between us, the agent, and his “boss” wasn’t good. This is not an apartment, and there’s no sea view as shown in another photo.

We felt safe the whole time, even leaving our bags outside the room for a few hours without worrying. The water is only a two-minute walk away, and restaurants and shops are right outside. I’ll definitely stay here again next time I’m in Split.

Toma was so friendly and ready to help, and the recommendations he shared were really useful while we were in Split. The room was comfortable, clean, and had a good mattress. It’s in a great location, too. The mirror lights didn’t work, and the Google Maps location was confusing, so it should be changed.

The only drawback is the 50 steps you have to climb.
