Villa Lanterna

My impression was fairly average, and I came away a bit disappointed. I’d read lots of comments about how friendly the staff were, but that wasn’t really my experience, and I wonder if those reviews meant different staff. There was just one person handling breakfast and guests. Since it was the end of the season, he seemed worn out, and I felt awkward asking him for anything.

The little pool was well kept and a welcome thing to have in the heat, and the hotel’s evening meals were excellent. They should promote those more, since the village has only two other restaurants. Breakfast was a good continental spread, with eggs or omelettes cooked when requested. It’s a small hotel in a quiet location, with pleasant, efficient and very helpful staff, especially the manager Igor. There’s a free daily ride to the local supermarket, plus transfers to and from Dubrovnik for €4 each way.

We’ve just come back from a seven-night half-board stay and honestly, wow. Nika sorted out trips and transport, while Igor made lovely, tasty food that was presented so nicely. The hosts couldn’t do enough for us, and the rooms and bedding were checked every day. Such a gem. We’ll be back in 2027.

The stay was frustrating and uncomfortable because several basics fell short. There was no Wi-Fi at all while I was there, which made both work and personal use difficult. I also found no room service, though I expected at least a basic option at a hotel of this standard. Breakfast was another disappointment. The choice was poor, the food didn’t seem fresh, and the dishes and utensils were dirty. That’s not acceptable for a hospitality business. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and improvements are made for future guests.
