Habitation Des Lauriers

The menu is healthy, and dishes came out quickly. You can’t bring restaurant food to your room, but I still enjoyed my stay and would recommend the place and come back. It’s a cozy hotel with excellent views, tucked away in a peaceful spot with a superb atmosphere.

The menu and food were the letdown. The photos don’t match what arrives, and even when I asked for a second shot of rum, the alcoholic drinks tasted like plain juice. I’ve had drinks at places in the Dominican that got you drunk for a quarter of the price. Food and drinks also took a long time, and they wouldn’t bring orders to the room. The view is amazing, though, and my room was clean and nice. I’d recommend paying extra for a supreme room with a balcony overlooking the ocean and mountains. That’s why I’m at four stars.

The hiking trails were a lovely surprise, bringing nature, history, and quiet together. From its perch above the city, Habitation Des Lauriers has a beautiful outlook over the northern coast and a peaceful feel. The setting is breathtaking, with timeless architecture that reflects the old charm of Cap-Haïtien dantan, alongside subtle modern comforts. It’s one of Cap-Haïtien’s best kept secrets for a place to stay.

The ocean view is beautiful, and there’s a nice breeze through the common areas. Rooms were cleaned daily, with fresh sheets and towels and bottled water for everyone in the room. Still, the stay had plenty of problems. The road up to the hotel really is steep. Lots of menu items were unavailable, especially toward the end of the week, and flies kept bothering us in the dining area. There were roaches in the room, the window wouldn’t close properly so house lizards got in, and the wardrobe drawer was broken. AC only ran from 8 pm to 5 am, and there was no fridge. The room was very basic, though they do have suites, so maybe our room was the issue. We were there for a week and saw no entertainment at the pool, even though there seemed to be things for it. My husband was sick, and I asked reception for a bucket of hot water because the room’s hot water wasn’t working. The girl said she’d check, but I could tell from her response it wouldn’t happen, and it didn’t. One day at breakfast, the owner greeted everyone except our table and a white guy sitting at the bar.
