The quiet and the clear, warm water were such a welcome change after two weeks in port au prince, and we’d love to return with a better car. There are ways to arrive by air or sea too. Driving meant 6-7 hours on rocky roads after Gonaives, so come prepared and get there early. We arrived at 9pm, but the staff still made us dinner. Our bungalows were great, though we found two big spiders in ours the first night. My partner handled them for both of us. ;) We loved the sail excursion, which cost 250 gdes per person. We brought our own snorkels to explore two natural caves across the water from the resort, then visited the tip of the peninsula, where you could hike to see isle de la torte. Snorkels and fins are also available to rent for 175 gdes. The sunsets were lovely, and the food was good. The only snag was keeping track of room charges. Staff made mistakes on the final bills for all the rooms, but the owner and manager corrected them without any fuss. The WiFi is only by the bar, though it’s strong enough to post photos and check in with family. For the rest of the time, it’s a good place to disconnect.

The bungalows were clean and comfortable, with running water, electricity, mosquito nets, and privacy. The food was fresh, local, and served in huge portions. We also had a very amusing ride on a katamaran. The beach is gorgeous, and there are other water activities to try. The owners are really helpful too. Contact them and they’ll respond quickly and help you work out the best way to get to Mole-st-Nicolas. The little town of Mole St Nicolas is just a few minutes’ walk away, with old forts to see and local food to taste. Such a beautiful secret garden!

There’s a private beach tucked between the mountains, right by a historic landmark that’s almost completely ruined. It’s said Cristoforo Colombo (Christopher Columbus) first landed in the new world here, and there are a few forts that were built to protect his interest. This is the kind of place to come if you want to get away from everyone. If you don’t already know about it, you’ll probably never find it.

This is a little, cozy resort in Haiti’s far northwest, and it feels peaceful and safe. The staff are welcoming and friendly. There’s good food, a choice of accommodation, WiFi, juices, massage, kitesurfing, MTB rental, and more. Come for a few "normal" days and get some rest from the wild, sometimes tiring rhythm of everyday life in Haiti. You won’t regret it. Foreigners from all around usually visit on weekends, so there’s a chance to meet interesting people from across the world too.

A lovely spot to unwind, enjoy the sea’s colors, and eat well. We had a really nice trip to the "preskil" and Carenage. You can go kayaking or kite-surfing, and try "lanbi", "raken", "chatwouj", "pwason", and "oma".
