We stayed here in early September, when Balaton felt quiet and unhurried, and that suited our family well. The place has a modest, cozy charm, and the beach is very close. The lake here is great for children. Our host and the local woman who manages the house were both very attentive. We had the ground floor, with the whole front yard and back terrace for our dog. The kitchen is on the small side, though there are plenty of pans, bowls, and other useful things. With a bit of creativity, we managed remote school for our three young kids and some remote work for a parent too. It did make the living space feel cramped. Still, we were happy we stayed here. Recommended.

The house is in a really good spot, and could be a good place to stay. The yard fits 3-4 cars, and the place was clean enough with okay amenities. It’s semi-detached, though, and there can be some friction with the neighbor. The big issue for me was the air conditioning. Units have been installed in every room for years, but they haven’t been used, and apparently have been sitting on the walls for three years. This year’s heat was brutal. There’s also a strong smell of beach lángos, so it’s not a good choice if you’re sensitive to smells. Not every window has an insect screen. There aren’t many mosquitoes, but there are plenty of other bugs, including the occasional protected wolf spider in the back, so spider-phobic guests may want to avoid it. The upstairs can sleep around 6-7 people, I think, while the ground floor is smaller. The stairs up are very steep and aren’t suitable for older people or anyone with pets.
