The location is unbelievably good, close to the main attractions, pub area, main square, central market, Buda Hill and castle, and some really nice restaurants. That’s the only real positive, though. It’s quite cheap by international standards, but I think you can find a better place in Budapest for the same price. You do get what you pay for. The bed was uncomfortable, with an extremely thin mattress and pillows that were basically nonexistent. There are no blackout blinds, so you wake as soon as the sun comes up. The blankets are thin too, not ideal in cold weather. The towels were very thin, and we only got one each, with no hand towel. Some plugs didn’t feel safe, and the shower stand was broken, so you have to hold the shower head. The room wasn’t particularly clean, but it wasn’t dirty either. There’s no kitchen, just a shared microwave and two shared fridges for four rooms, each with its own bathroom. There’s a hallway camera, but the front door is rarely locked, which didn’t feel very safe. We had no problems, though, and our room door locked well. The building is gloomy, but has both stairs and a lift. Suggested improvements: blackout blinds, better pillows, higher quality towels, and locking the front door.

The location near the town centre and metro is the only thing going for it. The room was dirty and barely furnished, and the bathroom inside the room was much the same. The mattress and pillow were the thinnest I’ve ever had while travelling. There weren’t any thick, heavy curtains to block the dawn light either. Far below an acceptable standard, even for the low nightly price.

The price is quite okay and the location is great, but that’s where the positives end. The bathroom light didn’t work, there was no direct sunlight, and the so-called kitchen was just a microwave and fridge in the middle of the hallway. The walk to the apartment was dark, scary and dangerous. There’s no reception there, so you have to call someone to let you in the first time. There’s no cleaning service, so you have to clean up yourself, and some people clearly hadn’t. Basic, but worse than basic.

The staff were great and the location fantastic. But we don’t think the room had been cleaned before we stayed. Keep your shoes or socks on, and sleep in your PJs.
