Art Hostel Gallery

The owner came back from home to check us in after waiting more than four hours for us. We had the whole place to ourselves, and the hostel is in a fantastic building, just a five-minute walk from Rudas Baths. We'd driven a three-ton truck from the UK for two days with refugee aid, then got stuck in a motorway crash queue, so his help meant a lot. Thank you to the owner.

We cancelled before arriving because the 24/7 reception listed on Hostelworld wasn't true. Check-in was only possible during a short time window that didn't fit our plans. We later learned that some advertised amenities weren't there either, including shower curtains, which put us off as three girls travelling together. When we called to cancel, the owner said he couldn't hear us while his TV was playing loudly in the background. He seemed to be trying to refuse the cancellation and kept asking when we'd check in. We never stayed, but the whole experience was negative, and I wouldn't recommend this hostel.

I've never stayed anywhere worse. The place feels scary, there's dirt everywhere, and there are no bunk beds, only extra beds. For what little it offers, the price is absurd.

There's nobody on duty at the hostel, so you have to wait for someone to arrive and let you in. I was left waiting from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM.
