I arrived at 15:00, the check-in time, but my room hadn’t been cleaned, so I couldn’t move in. It was an AirBnB style place with no reception or staff around. I spent 20-25 minutes calling the only number I could find on Booking.com, but no one answered. After several more tries I finally reached someone, who said they’d send the cleaners as soon as possible. Another 30-40 minutes passed and nobody came, so I started calling more insistently. Then they began messaging me on WhatsApp, asking me to explain the problem. I’d lost patience by then and asked them to cancel my booking and refund me. The Manager eventually called, and fortunately the refund went smoothly. We said goodbye without me ever taking the room, and I spent the rest of the day looking for another place to stay.

I loved the location, right in the center with a bus stop and shop outside the building. My small room had everything I needed, and the view from the window was especially beautiful. The old building is expected in the historic center, and there’s an elevator, so that wasn’t a problem. I also liked the breakfast setup with coupons for a nice brunch spot. The food was good quality, without the unnecessary waste of a hotel buffet. That arrangement wasn’t advertised, though. Just be aware it’s more of a short-term room rental than a hotel. I had no problem with that.
I was left outside with my luggage, unable to check in, because their vague, outdated message instructions described an access system that no longer exists. The entrance was filthy, the building felt dodgy, and there was no reception or staff on site. It was a shabby, poorly maintained apartment that didn’t match the listing. After I finally reached someone through Booking, the so-called host was shady and gave no clear answer about the misleading situation. He hung up mid-call and never called back. There was zero support or professionalism. At nearly €150 a night, it was worse than a hostel. I’d have felt safer and more comfortable sleeping in a train station. The photos are misleading, the service nonexistent, and the experience infuriating. Avoid at all costs.
The location was a huge plus for us, right in the middle of Pest and close to a bridge that made getting to Buda easy. We also had breakfast included, served at a lovely café about a 10-minute walk away. The voucher covered breakfast and a hot drink, and everything tasted great. I was worried after reading the reviews, especially since we thought we'd booked a regular hotel and only later realized it was more like an Airbnb. But the host was friendly and explained everything clearly, and we really couldn't fault our stay. The room itself was clean and modern, with cleaning staff around throughout the day, and any problems were dealt with right away. We could leave our bags in a storage cupboard before check-in and after check-out, too. The shared parts of the building are run down, and the stairs were fine for us because we're able-bodied. We had a great experience and would book again if we return to Budapest. I hope this helps reassure anyone who's already booked.
We were both glad we chose Home Nador, and if we're back in Budapest, we'll know where to stay. It's right in the center, which made it easy to see the city, and there's a helpful spot inside with ideas for places to visit and tips on getting around. The rooms were really comfortable, and the staff gave us a lovely welcome. Our checkout was at 11am, but our flight wasn't until 7.30pm. They kindly let us leave our bags in a room and collect them before we headed out.
