Carat Boutique Hotel

We found the rooms modern, comfortable, and very clean, with good soundproofing even in such a lively area. Breakfast was fresh and had plenty of variety, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. The location puts everything within walking distance, with public transport right around the corner. A great value stay in the heart of the city, and highly recommended for a Budapest visit.

The one bright spot was the receptionist from the previous day, who was kind and helpful. The breakfast and the checkout afterward were a very different experience. I booked a month ahead after checking that they could provide gluten-free breakfast for my husband, who has celiac disease. They confirmed it. But at 7:30 on the morning of February 14th, there was nothing for him except the savory breakfast, which we Italians don't do. When we asked, they brought four slices of raw bread, but it couldn't go in the toaster because it was contaminated with regular bread. At checkout, the first man was rude when we struggled with the language. I explained that I'd paid extra on the promise of gluten-free breakfast and was disappointed. He called a colleague, who rudely said they'd given us four slices of bread. When I said that wasn't a gluten-free breakfast, he said it was all they had. Then he turned to his colleague, spoke in his own language, and laughed at us for not understanding. I won't go back or recommend the place. I don't know how people that rude work with the public. They should review the staff, that was really in poor taste.

The free breakfast buffet was outstanding, with lots of choices, and the beds were very comfortable. We also appreciated the airport shuttle waiting when we arrived. The hotel is beautiful and centrally placed on the Pest side, and staff were friendly and attentive. Communication by email before arrival was great. The air conditioner didn't work properly, so we had to leave the window open. It was cooler in the evening, thankfully, but the street was noisy and there was a celebration across from our building.

The staff were the highlight, every person we met was upbeat, friendly, and eager to help. Their attitude made small things easy to overlook, including that cleanliness could be improved a little. We also appreciated the sauna, the tasty and filling breakfast, and the two free bottles of water in the minibar. Rooms are a little small but furnished comfortably and with good taste. The hotel is well located for visiting attractions. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely choose it again on a return to Budapest. Highly recommended.
