Carpe Noctem Hostel

The staff, Ramune, Bambi, Gemma and Gabs, made it really hard to leave. They put so much effort into the nights out and making sure everyone was having a great time. This is my favourite hostel so far, and I'd go back to Budapest just to stay at Carpe again.

I left feeling like staying there had enriched me as a person. There’s a rare group of people at carpre noctrum who make everyone around them better, and being there was a pleasure. I already told the staff how wonderful they were while I was staying, but I have to say it again: “Hospitality is clearly part of your souls. Thanks for the good times, and please never change!”

Even in just 6 days, I felt like I’d made friends for life. The daily activities and family dinner are a big part of that, and dinner runs about 4000-10000 Huf in total, so make the most of them. Staff bring everyone into things, whether they’re outgoing or more reserved, and the place has a very communal feel. Just be respectful and courteous to them. Their casual manner and kindness shouldn’t be taken for granted. For some responsible degeneracy in Budapest, Carpe Noctem is my pick. Best hostel ever, nothing else quite like it anywhere. I’d definitely return if I’m in town again. To my favourite staff member, Ramunė : You are the best!

The events are mostly about drinking, including a daily bottomless brunch with guests from sister hostel “Vitae” and Budapest nights out like the river booze cruise and party bus. Since it’s marketed as a party hostel, that makes sense, though I would've liked a daytime city tour or something similar. Still, it felt like staying at a mate’s place. The staff were friendly and helpful, coffee was free, and I was pleasantly surprised not to be charged for a towel. Beds were good quality, and the bathrooms got cleaned regularly during the day. I’d definitely recommend it to other solo travellers.
