NEXTO DORMERO Hotel Budapest

I'd stayed here six times before this trip and it had always been my first choice when I came to Budapest for official work. That history made this visit, my seventh, all the more disappointing. The room wasn't clean to an acceptable standard. There were strands of hair in the basin, the towel was wet, the glasses hadn't been cleaned, and an opened bottle was in the minibar. The lockcase was already locked too. These are basic things, especially at a hotel I'd trusted for years. I used to recommend the place without hesitation, but this stay changed my mind completely. It was a horrible experience, and I won't book here again.

For anyone who sleeps heavily, the hotel is otherwise pretty okay, and the scenery is beautiful. But I'll remember Budapest with distaste because our stay was so noisy and I couldn't get help. The walls seemed paper thin. The guests next door shouted, laughed, played music, and threw furniture while we were trying to sleep from 10 PM. I went looking for staff at reception at 1 AM and spent several minutes calling around, but nobody appeared. There wasn't a receptionist's number posted. I went back to the room, and an hour later the same thing was still going on. The number we had from the booking turned out not to exist. They eventually left, and I only managed to fall asleep after 3 AM. Then at 8 AM there was more of the same, with constant bangs and noise. I came to relax and get some sleep, not to keep running to the front desk hoping someone might be there. If this is what you expect from a hotel, don't choose this one.

We had a brilliant meal at sir Lancelot medieval restaurant on our last night, and Tibor had helped us make reservations. He'd already been a great help when we arrived, greeting us professionally and warmly, giving us a Budapest map, and explaining how to reach the places we planned to visit. That made us feel more familiar with the area. The hotel itself was immaculate. Our room was spacious, with a large shower cubicle and comfortable beds. There was a fridge with complimentary drinks, which was a nice touch. The small gym was well kept and had clean towels ready. Breakfast was in a spotless area, with a big selection of good food and drinks. We thought the hotel was fantastic in every way and would always return to hotel Dormero when we're next in Budapest. 10 out of 10 👍

We were there for a week and I'd definitely book Dormero again. The location was very good, within walking distance of metro stops and other landmarks, and the hotel was easy to find. It felt clean, modern, and safe. The air conditioning worked perfectly in both the lobby and our room. Our room was spacious and clean, with towels and comfortable bedding, and we had a large balcony on the sixth floor. Thanks ☺️
