Hotel Castle Garden

The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the hotel was peaceful despite the walking groups nearby. It’s a lovely spot near the castle, with a bus stop about a 5 minute walk away and frequent, easy-to-use public transport. I found reception unfriendly and not much help. When we arrived from the airport at 12.30pm, we were abruptly told we were early, then told the room was ready. We had room only, but nobody explained anything about the hotel, breakfast, restaurant, spa, or area. Later, when we asked where to buy bus tickets, we got a vague “in the square” direction. Thank God for Google maps. There was no sign to say whether we wanted the room cleaned or left alone, and housekeeping skipped the second day. I asked at reception, and they cleaned it the following day. We greeted the receptionist when coming and going, but that wasn't always returned.

What stood out most was the staff. They were professional, empathetic, and always willing to make our stay nicer. We were welcomed with much-needed coffee, and there was a little treat waiting in the room. The bathroom had lovely scented toiletries, and the breakfast was pure perfection. The rooms were clean and very comfortable too. Honestly, this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at. We'll stay here again whenever we're in Budapest.

The location is great, but the service and facilities felt below standard for the price, and I wouldn't call this a 4-star hotel. Our room wasn't clean, with lots of hair on the floor and carpet, and the heating barely worked, so we had to use a small space heater. The front desk staff weren't especially friendly either. At breakfast, the juice machine was empty, the water jars hadn't been refilled, and there were no labels saying what the cheese or hot dishes were. We wouldn't recommend it, even though the location is good.

After checking out, I realized I'd left a bag of training supplements behind. They're expensive and I use them every day, so I thought they were gone for good. The reception team was kind and really helpful: they entered my shipping details into the GLS system, called right when they said they would so they could help with payment, packed everything securely, and kept me updated. Special thanks to Lili Dioszegi, who went out of her way to help. Well Lili, you absolutely deserve it. That kind of care means a lot. Thanks again. The stay itself was great too. Castle Garden Hotel in Budapest had clean rooms, and it felt comfortable and welcoming in a quiet but central location. If you're considering it, stop searching. Castle Garden Hotel is where genuine care still exists. 😄
