We left on the evening we checked in because the apartment had mold on the walls and the bedsheets were dirty. I called to ask for a refund and to say we were leaving, but nobody responded. We told booking.com we’d gone elsewhere, expecting a full refund because staying there felt impossible. After the trip, the property accused us of having stayed because the sheets were dirty and used. We had only used them to photograph the dirt before leaving. I can’t know for sure, but they may even have rented the apartment twice for the same dates, since they knew we’d left. booking.com offered no support and even encouraged us to leave, perhaps because they thought a refund was unlikely. They completely ignored what I said about being unable to stay because of the mold. We were also asked to clean before leaving for the next guests, and warned that touching the drying rack beside the bed would cost 20€ per piece. Avoid this apartment at all cost!!!!

A nice apartment right in central Budapest.

The location is the one thing going for this apartment, but it doesn’t make up for the condition inside. It was dirty and poorly maintained, with lots of spiders and even cockroaches in the bathroom. An old radiator kept crackling, and the refrigerator made similar noises. It was incredibly annoying and made it hard to relax. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Do not book. We arrived at 4:00 PM on December 12, as agreed, after the owner had said the room wouldn’t be ready earlier when we asked about early access. The place was extremely dirty. The sheets were full of hair and smelled so bad that I couldn’t tell how long they’d gone without being changed. There was hair everywhere, dirty tissues, and a drying rack in the middle of the room. The bathroom walls were moldy, and there was mold in the washing machine too, where some sheets had been left soaking. When I sent the owner photos and complained, she said it had been cleaned the night before and the staff had done an excellent job, without addressing what the photos showed. We asked for help and were ignored. The old radiator made a deafening racket, like it might explode. We followed the check-in arrangements and had an 11:00 AM checkout, but at 9:50 AM a mysterious cleaning lady woke us up. I have no idea why she came, since I doubt she was there to clean.
