MEININGER Budapest Great Market Hall

The kitchen is really well equipped, the place is very clean, and the staff are helpful. The location is great too. This was my second stay, and things were just as good as last time. I do think almost 7 Euro for laundry is steep, but I’m still glad I used it.

The lobby is spacious and modern, with a great area for relaxing, and the kitchen is functional, well cared for, and attractive. The location makes it easy to get around, and guests can get discounts on different services. Most of the staff were friendly, and I really don’t have anything bad to say. Meininger Budapest and Meininger Amsterdam are easily the best Meininger hotels. It was hard to rank them because we spent more time in Amsterdam and it stayed in our hearts, but Budapest has everything you need, with more space and a great atmosphere. One suggestion: free tap water at reception for refillable bottles would be handy, as it is in Amsterdam. And if you’re heading to Budapest, remember to buy a public transport ticket before riding.

I couldn’t sleep at all, and I’m deeply unhappy with the stay. We were there for just one night, but it was the worst night of my life. I don’t know whether the woman at the desk disliked us, or why we were put on the first floor, where I could hear what I guess was noise from the kitchen. From 9 pm until after midnight, around 1 am, there were doors slamming and people yelling and laughing so loudly they sounded right beside me. It seems they don’t have a quiet policy. Hotels can’t control everything, but they can and should manage noise from guests. People need to rest. I’d never come back.

They welcomed us warmly, were very hospitable, and answered our questions whenever we had them. Check-in is at 3 pm, but our room was already ready when we arrived and they offered us an early check-in, which was convenient. The room was clean and spacious, though sound carried: we could hear footsteps upstairs and around us. It was quiet at night, so it didn’t really bother us. Breakfast was an okay standard buffet with a good range, but it was a bit crowded during the holiday season. There’s private paid parking next to the hotel. Great location for a good price.
