Mercure Budapest City Center Hotel

Breakfast was the standout for me: lots of choice, very good quality, and exceptionally friendly staff. From the person checking room numbers to the servers, everyone was smiling and welcoming. Even with plenty of guests, service stayed organized and smooth. Reception was professional, though a little more warmth would have been nice, and staff often seemed focused on their computers. The location is excellent, the rooms are adequate despite slightly worn carpet, and the gym is pleasant and well maintained. A very good stay, and breakfast is worth including in the booking.

Bence, I think that’s his name, works the overnight front desk and was so personable and kind. When my mom lost her purse on the train, he helped me figure out who to call and where to go. He was incredibly helpful. The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and breakfast has a good variety with nice staff. We did have some problems: housekeeping came into our room on two of the four nights even though we had put the do not disturb sign up. The bathroom fan was extremely loud and kept running after we turned off the light. The AC also didn’t work. When we asked the overnight front desk girl, she said they switch it off during winter. Even with the window open, the room stayed very hot and we woke up sweaty. I think that should be mentioned somewhere online when booking. Still, we’ve had a good experience overall.

We found it good value for money. The room was clean and comfortable, though a little small, which makes sense for a city-center hotel. Breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The downstairs restaurant area can feel a bit narrow when it’s busy. The central location is great.

Right on a main shopping street, this hotel is in a great central spot. Breakfast was excellent and varied, with vegetables, cheeses, cold cuts, and several egg options. The room and shower were a bit small, but the capsule coffee machine in the room was a nice touch.
