Omega Guesthouse Budapest

It's a good place to stay if you want a clean room, nice staff, and a convenient base for exploring the city. We could smell fast food outside the rooms, but not inside our room, so don't let that put you off. There's no luxury here, and the price makes that clear compared with other properties. For what it offers, it's excellent value. I'd definitely stay again as a base.

The reception staff were polite and helpful, and the location was okay. But the room was cold and uncomfortable because the heating was terrible. The Wi-Fi barely worked at all, which was really frustrating. Parking isn't included either, and you have to park at a separate hotel, which is inconvenient.

The staff's attitude was the worst part of an already awful stay. When I arrived with my husband, the receptionist saw our reservation for two men with a double bed and became extremely homophobic. She was arrogant and gave no clear instructions. Breakfast was included, but she didn't explain how it worked. When I asked, she only said, “you need to come to the reception,” which made no sense. We also had a very hard mattress that made loud noises when we moved, no shower gel despite it being listed as included, and a TV that kept losing signal. The kettle smelled strongly of cleaning chemicals and foamed when I added water, which felt dangerous and unacceptable. Breakfast was a tiny portion, and the price posted at reception was higher than the one in the room information. It wasn't worth it. On the terrace they used plates instead of proper ashtrays, embarrassing for a 3-star hotel. At the entrance was a long, unprofessional-looking list of damage fines from 5 to 200 EUR. The place constantly smelled of fried food too. This didn't feel like a 3-star stay at all.

A pleasant option for budget travel, right in the city centre. Buses, metro, and other transport are just outside the building, and there's a really nice garden. Recommend it.
