We stayed for two days, me and my friends, and it was possibly the worst place I've ever slept. The whole building felt more like a prison or an asylum than a hostel. Knowing that there'd been a massacre nearby where 6 000 people died only added to that feeling. The shared bathrooms smelled awful. Water from the showers ran for only about 4 to 10 seconds before shutting off, and the ugly, moldy curtains made them the last place I wanted to shower after a day around the city. Our room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. The raised wooden floor creaked, the old beds were uncomfortable and didn't look clean, and the couch chair looked as if someone had thrown up on it. One blanket had what looked like blood stains, and the mirror still had a mark that seemed like leftover from a giant pimple. I came away thinking most of the positive reviews for this "prison" were written by the owner. If you're staying in Budapest, I'd sooner sleep on the street than at this "hostel".

There were four of us friends staying together. The hostel was fairly clean overall, but definitely not spotless, so don't expect too much for the price. More than 120 Euro was taken from my wallet on our second night. Keep your wallet secure and lock the door.

The clean sheets and the really nice guy at reception are the only reason I'm giving this place two stars. The hostel is so old that I don't think it can be properly cleaned, and lots of things are dirty from age. You can sleep here in the end, but I wouldn't recommend it.
