Westend Minihotel

There's a small kitchen in the corridor. The rooms are a bit worn, and this is a low-budget hotel without AC or fancy extras, but at 40 €/night I don't have much to complain about. The location is great, with the city centre, a tram station, and a grocery store all within walking distance, the store just outside. Open the windows and you get quite a lot of street noise.

We didn't stay even one night and quickly found another place. We were left outside for over an hour with no entry instructions. We rang the bell many, many times and nobody came, though we were just told to ring it. The bed collapsed when I sat on it, and I'm not the slimmest girl. The building is very old and run down, with graffiti all over inside. The room was filthy, with hair all over the bed as if a dog had been there, and it smelled damp. The bathroom was tiny, and its door wouldn't shut or lock. It's cheap, but honestly not worth the money. Avoid if you want a nice stay.

I haven't stayed at the hotel, so I can't say whether it's good. My rating is about the management and the way they handled my situation. A family member had medical issues, so I had to cancel my Budapest trip. I knew there was a fee and first asked through Booking if it could be waived. They promptly said no, which I understood. Then I explained the delicate circumstances, but got no reply. I don't care that I lost the fee, since I had to cancel anyway, though I think they would've filled the room quickly in August. What bothered me was getting a quick answer about the fee waiver but none after I explained why I was asking. I received that treatment without even going there, and how a hotel handles this matters. I wouldn't recommend staying there, even for one night, if people like this are running it. I'm posting this in case it helps someone else choose where to stay.

The rooms are very clean, and the lady who looks after the place is lovely. It's in a very central spot, close to the tram station.
