I was really disappointed with the service at the Mercure Debrecen. We arrived around 12:30 pm and asked about checking in early. They said the rooms weren't ready yet but would be available by 2 pm. I sat on the couch right in front of the check-in counter where the staff could see me, and asked Dona when the room would be ready. She confirmed it would be. About ten minutes before 2 pm, I checked with her again, but this time she said no. At 2 pm, Dona left the counter without telling the new staff member who had come to replace her. As soon as she was gone, I asked the new staff when I could get into the room, and she told me, “The room is already ready.” There had been no check-out guest between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. Can you believe this? I saw Dona at the front desk the next morning, but she said nothing. At checkout I asked for an invoice and found it incorrectly listed my nationality as “China.” I'm not Chinese, and I had already shown my valid passport. What makes the staff assume we're Chinese? This feels like a form of racism. The tissue box in the room was empty, and there was no conditioner, body cream, cotton swabs, or cotton buds provided.

We were in Debrecen for the first time, and the hotel is right in the city centre. The room was prepared perfectly, with comfortable beds and good water pressure in the shower. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the service there was great. The reception and restaurant staff were very kind and professional, and check-in and checkout were quick and smooth. I'd choose Mercure Debrecen again without a second thought.

The sauna and fitness room were nice places to relax, and breakfast had plenty of tasty options. I also liked how clean and comfortable the modern rooms were, especially the heated floors. Being right in central Debrecen made getting around easy. It’s a great pick for a new city hotel.

We found the hotel easy to get around from, just a short walk to the city center, and the staff were friendly and helpful the whole time. Our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable, with a cozy bed that made it easy to sleep well. Breakfast was fresh and had lots of choices. The fitness area was a welcome extra, and the underground parking was very convenient. We had a great stay and would recommend it.

The location is very central, so getting around was easy. The rooms were up to the standard I’d expect from an Accor affiliated hotel. Service, though, was poor compared with other 4 star hotels and Accor standards.
