Széchenyi Apartman Miskolc belvárosban

The apartment was clean when we arrived, and it’s well placed near the city center. I liked the long bathtub for stretching out, and the TV was a good size, connected to the internet for YouTube and Netflix with your own subscription, as well as regular channels. The Wi-Fi worked well, there was a mosquito screen on one window, and the lighting was laid out sensibly, though its remote barely worked and may just need a new battery. There were a number of neglected things that brought my rating down to “5 - Acceptable.” The sockets were loose and not properly secured. Some were missing the screw between the holes, so the inside could come out with a light touch, which felt life-threatening. The bed was uncomfortable too. I could feel something poking into my back when I lay down, perhaps a spring or support. Noise was another issue. In the mornings the staff (?) regularly made a lot of noise while working and shouted to each other close to our doors and windows. The whole apartment setup had poor acoustics, and sounds echoed in the otherwise empty hallways. Our two large windows faced a shared terrace with seating, so we kept the blinds down for privacy. On one occasion someone sat outside and cigarette smoke filled the room within minutes. I was angry about being exposed to smoke without wanting it. Cleanliness was generally fine, but there was black mold in the bathtub grout and heavy staining on the cabinet under the sink. The toilet had no lid, the large pillows were lumpy, and there was only one small pillow. A bathroom mirror light was out, a cable hung from the ceiling, the air conditioner sometimes smelled musty, and one window handle was very loose and wobbly. I’d have listed more, but ran out of space.

We spent four nights in the II relax apartment. It’s in a central spot with lots of restaurants close by, and the bus and tram stops are nearby too. The apartment itself is very good, with Wi-Fi and a decent TV. There wasn’t much room to spread clothes out to dry, and no dryer. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Although the apartment was basically clean, there was mold in the bathroom near the bathtub. Our window faced a terrace that people also walked through, so we often woke to the cleaning staff’s morning noise, and sometimes cigarette smoke drifted in.

The owner was helpful and friendly, and the accommodation was nice enough for what I needed. It’s right in the center, near the pedestrian street. The price is competitive, so I’ll definitely come back.
