We booked the place with several friends, then found out that evening that two other people had also been given the remaining upstairs rooms. Nobody had mentioned that to us. A lot of things didn't match what we expected, so avoid it if you can. The host seems interested in people only when it's time to collect the money.

The room they sent us to at the Belváros guesthouse was still occupied, with clothes left inside. There were cigarette butts scattered around, an ashtray on the bed, and tampons and pads everywhere. It was a complete mess, and the shared area didn't meet even basic hygiene standards. We complained and had to fight to get our booking payment back, but it was refunded in about 45 minutes. I'd been told only half an hour before we arrived that our booked and reserved accommodation had been given to someone else. The first alternative was upstairs, reached by a metal spiral staircase, which my 85-year-old mother and 83-year-old aunt couldn't manage, so we couldn't accept it. After that, they sent us to Belváros guesthouse. They shouldn't have put two elderly people in this situation in the first place. I'm sorry I had to put them through it, and I respectfully ask the accommodation provider to change their attitude and pay proper attention to reservations and hygiene. 😡

We booked a month ahead for a holiday visit to my family on August 20, and the booking was confirmed. But on the 19th, when we got in touch to arrange collecting the keys, they told us there was no room because someone had booked the whole house months earlier. They suggested nice rooms with bathrooms at Nimród instead. By then we couldn't find anywhere else to book. We got to Nimród at night, but it was smelly and dirty, and we didn't sleep there. We had to sort something else out. Their dishonesty is infuriating, and that's why I'm posting this here: we had booked this accommodation. Also, the "gentleman" never introduced himself to any of us.

The room door bangs whenever the front door opens. At first we thought someone was knocking, but it was just the door. The windows let in the cold, and by morning we were freezing like puppies. The rooms are small too, and going up the mountain on ice, we nearly fell a couple of times. A horrible place, I don't recommend it.
