Aranypatkó Fogadó-Étterem

The old refrigerator and air-conditioning unit made so much noise that the room was a nightmare. We arrived late at night, and although the online price was €65, we were charged €102 in cash.

We were offered a nice breakfast the next morning, but we decided not to stay for the other two nights. Luckily, we found a night at Ibis hotels and added an extra night in Budapest, where we were headed anyway. My sister-in-law thought this place was great, but we never got to see it ourselves because our room had been given away. We'd booked three nights in advance and paid a third up front. When we arrived, the owner said a large group had booked rooms and refused to leave, so there was no room for us. He took us to another place down the road that he was renovating. It was okay, with a small kitchen and both beds in the main room. The bathroom was nice, though there was only a bathtub with a handheld shower, no stand-up shower. After a very hot day, the A/C there couldn't cool the room.

A car breakdown near Budapest brought us here, since it was the closest place to the garage fixing it. The owner was really friendly, and the staff were too. We didn't speak the language, but managed to get by. The rooms were tidy and clean, and the food was great and inexpensive. There's a lovely back garden with a swing for kids. They made the stay feel like a holiday. I'd give them more than five stars if I could. Keep up the good work!

We came for "Liba napok" and the liver was perfect. The food was really tasty, and we were served politely in a lovely setting.
