Hotel Hostel Rév Balaton

The ferry is right nearby, and traffic jams there often make getting around difficult. We stayed for three nights after booking through Booking.com, but the photos gave a very misleading impression of what we found. It was the worst accommodation I've ever had. I wanted to get out of the room, and we won't go anywhere near this place again.

The staff were nice, and you could tell the place had been cleaned, so those are the only reasons I'm giving it two stars. The room was tiny, though at least it was clean. At 45 degrees Celsius there was no air at all, and we could only lie side by side if one of us went outside. A drunk babysitter stayed outside our window until 2 am, carrying on about who was doing what with whom. We got no rest. The listing showed something as a balcony, with a nightclub almost directly below it. I've never had such a bad stay.

We were glad to find a last-minute place that accepted our dog, and the price and lakeside location were good. But the room was incredibly dirty, with no soap or towels and nowhere to heat water for coffee. Insects filled the room and dropped onto our heads at night. There was mold in the shower, and we were afraid to touch anything. We made it through one night, but won't return.

The staff were kind, which is the only reason this gets two stars. The building dates from 1982 and doesn't seem to have had much spent on it. Rooms are small and not very clean, with lots of bugs, especially the spiders. I wouldn't recommend it.
