A last-minute booking brought us to this charming, old-fashioned place, which felt like a little trip back in time. The town is quiet and peaceful at night. The hostess kindly came up in person to show us around. Highly recommend.

I loved it. The room was clean and had lots of useful things, like towels, dishes, cutlery and a pan. The host was really friendly and waited up for my late-night check-in. In the morning I could walk to the far end of the hotel and see the lake. It’s close to Tihany’s attractions, in the lovely village. I only spent one night, but I’ll be back.

This was the most unpleasant booking experience I’ve had. Months ahead, I booked and paid for the guesthouse for four families with little children, based on the good reviews. Everything seemed fine until a few days before the holiday, when one family called to ask about getting the keys early. That’s when we learned the owner hadn’t made the booking. The money was returned, but it left the whole group scrambling. We had to find somewhere else in one day for a trip we’d spent weeks organizing. I wouldn’t recommend this guesthouse. I gave one star only because there’s no zero-star option.

Room #5 has a lovely view over lake Balaton, and the little rural houses with reed roofs are cute. The internet is awful.
