New Ricky Hotel

The rooms are basic but clean and functional, and the staff were friendly, helpful, and attentive. Breakfast was pretty good too, though there could be more variety. If something runs out, they refill it quickly without guests having to ask. It's a fairly comfortable, budget-friendly stay in Ba'a on Rote Island, quite close to PELNI Rote Port. You can see the lighthouse from the hotel.

We went for dinner as a group of five, but ended up going home without eating. A lot of items weren't available, which is understandable given how remote Rote is. Still, after about two hours of waiting, we cancelled our order. We got dessert first, while around three tables of customers who arrived after us got their food and left. The white rice that was supposed to come with one order never arrived either. Terrible service, highly not recommended.

Even though this is considered the newest hotel around, the price feels too high for the poor service. Rooms aren't cleaned unless you ask, and cleaning should be a basic service. Breakfast wasn't good, there's no small meeting room, and outside noise comes through loudly even in the VIP room. All group deals have to go through the owner.

There were spider webs under the bed, and the room had no windows or ventilator. Thank God I had bought my mobile air purifier. The toilet was so dirty it made me not want to use it. The room and blanket were super dirty. I believe the bed had never been cleaned or vacuumed, and there were lots of bed bugs. I could see ants and bugs on the bed cover too. If you're staying in rote, I'd suggest a resort or villa near Nemberala.
