Oyo 1762 Hotel Astiti Graha Tanah Lot

The price is very low, the location is convenient, and the room is reasonably nice. The staff also seem quite nice. But the pool is currently out of order, there's no hot water, no lockable place to store luggage, and no refrigerator. Most other places I've stayed in Bali had those things, so that was disappointing. It's not a bad place, but you do get what you pay for.

The room was dirty, with cockroaches and mosquitoes, and it didn't seem clean. There was hair in the bed, like it hadn't been cleaned in months. I booked online, then was told on arrival to pay another 30K IDR. The man wasn't friendly when I tried to refuse and said it was only a few rupiah. It felt like they were scamming tourists for extra money. Run away from this place!

We couldn't find the place at first because Google Maps showed the wrong area. We drove around several places and even asked a local business, but they hadn't heard of it. My wife was also freaked out by the dogs roaming around. The listing claimed Free WiFi, but it was too slow to upload vacation photos, so I told her to disconnect for her safety. The bathroom didn't feel sanitary enough for a woman to use the toilet or for anyone to shower. My wife booked this through the Agoda App and paid 117,000 IDR. When we arrived, a man spoke with her, then called someone to check our reservation and ask for more money, in cash. She paid another 30,000 IDR. It seems like a local is sharing a room with tourists and charging double. This is considered a condominium complex, not a hotel, and I wouldn't stay here alone based on the other reviews. They're using Google Maps as a terrible free Airbnb. Keep your money. Sleep in your vehicle if you have to.

I booked and paid for 2 days through agoda, but after one day they told me to check out. They said the online price wasn't enough and only covered the first day. I ended up leaving after a day even though my booking was for 2. I've since found that this seems common at Oyo hotels, where you book at one price online and get asked for more when you arrive. Avoid this hotel and any place connected to Oyo. They are thieves.
