Anggrek Shopping Hotel

The quality is average. What bothered me was the pool setup: it’s mixed with the smoking area, and there’s an ashtray on a table beside the pool. People smoke there, which exposes the children and women in the pool area to smoke.

The rooms were tidy, though dated, and the hotel itself doesn’t seem well maintained. Still, the staff were cooperative, and when we asked to use YouTube on the TV, they arranged a dongle. The breakfast area is small but pleasant, the food was good, and the central location puts many Bandung attractions close by.

The location and breakfast were good, but several things didn’t get sorted. The showers weren’t working properly and sprayed water everywhere, the phone was out of order, and nobody brought the prayer mat or extra hangers I requested.

The rooms are pleasant, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great if you’re after Indonesian food, though as a Westerner I missed even basic cereal like cornflakes. There weren’t Western breakfast options such as baked beans or fried potatoes either. The single-glazed windows let in outside sounds. One night there was fairly loud music until 11 pm, then at 4:30 came the Call to Prayer from a nearby mosque, followed by traffic noise as the city got going. The location is good.
