OYO Ipeda Family Residence 2

We were close to where we needed to be in Banyuwangi, which made the location convenient. Our type 2 room was comfortable, if a little small, and had an outdoor bathroom. I just wish there had been some cooking utensils, since it's a homestay.

I forgot to take pictures. I only came here on a whim because the nearby house I was heading to had lost power. At first the place seemed empty and nobody answered, but the owner pulled up in her car just as I was about to leave. She was very friendly. The price she gave me was almost twice the online listing I'd seen on Google Maps. I'd read reviews saying the app rate could be lower than what guests were asked to pay on arrival, though I don't know what amount those guests were quoted. I paid 150,000 Rupiah, while Agoda showed 86,000 Rupiah at the time. This homestay had opened recently, in February 2023. The room was small and fairly clean, but the walls and ceiling had cobwebs. The furniture and lighting were modern and minimalist, and there was a wardrobe, TV, AC, work desk, queen-sized bed, nightstand, and dressing table. The shared bathroom looked modern and had hot water, but wasn't very clean. Its door was so noisy that people going in and out often woke me. It's in an average location inside a housing complex, about 10 minutes from Ketapang Harbor and 10 minutes from Banyuwangi City. Paltuding, where the hike to Ijen Crater starts, is about an hour away. For simple, tasty food, I recommend "Warung Biru." The seafood there is delicious.

BEWARE, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOMESTAY!!! The online apps show very cheap rates, but once you arrive they ask for much more. If you won't pay the higher price, they won't give you a room key. The place itself isn't great either, more like a boarding house with a shared bathroom.

There are just five bedrooms in the whole house, with a few different room types. It's still quite new, and felt clean and comfortable. If you're booking through Oyo, go straight there rather than using Agoda. There's parking for two cars. Oyo is my favorite house.
