Shops are nearby, and pretty much everything is about five minutes away by GoJek. The beds are comfy, the air-conditioning is cold, and the hot water is amazing. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and breakfast was simple but hearty and delicious. The location is handy too, with lots of places to eat and get a massage nearby. Nagoya Hill mall is within walking distance. My double room was quiet, and the bed was comfortable, though the window looked straight at the wall of another building. There was a safe, clothes hangers and hooks, but no wardrobe. The WiFi and TV signal were good, the AC worked well, and the bathroom had strong water pressure. The shower partition helped keep the rest of the bathroom dry. Best of all, there was no cigarette smell in the room or sewage smell in the bathroom. Cleanliness was acceptable, though dusty spots and stains on the pillowcase and bedsheet could be improved. One thing to know: on the first night, about two or three Japanese guests were drinking hard liquor and talking and laughing loudly in the dining area close to midnight. It disturbed the quiet. They lowered their voices a little only after I asked the front desk to speak with them. Management could remind guests to keep the noise down during certain hours, perhaps 11 pm to 7 am, for everyone’s comfort.

There was a musty smell in our room at check-in, but we had brought scented diffusers. WiFi was good, and the location worked well for us: Pujabahari Market and Harbour Bay Jetty are close, while Grand Batam Mall and the surrounding malls are about a 10-minute drive or Gojek ride away. Breakfast is simple, as you’d expect for the price, and served from 6 to 10 am. We had delicious fried rice, chicken carbonara spaghetti, mixed vegetables, potato wedges, watermelon, banana, and bubur kacang hijau, or mung bean sweet porridge, for dessert. If you need a last-minute massage and everywhere at Nagoya Hill is booked, Nawa Spa and Salon is about a 5-7 minute walk from the hotel. It’s underrated, though don’t go in with high expectations.

The air-conditioning wasn’t cold at all, and the place wasn’t very clean. This hotel felt sleazy to me. There are better hotels in Batam, so I wouldn’t advise staying here.
