Villa Anjing

The good parts are the lovely pool, with the water checked every day, and those beautiful sunsets. There's a naturally green garden and the ocean is a short walk away. The cats and dogs around the property are charming, and they got us a motorbike quickly. Breakfast is included, though it's very basic, and there is daily cleaning, but the quality wasn't consistent. The room assignment feels like a lottery because Booking mixes all the room photos together. The rooms are quite worn: my wall lamp was nearly falling off, and the listed kitchen area needs serious work. Some utensils had rust or even mold, which was really disgusting. The owners live right beside the pool, so staff noise and conversations carry over almost constantly. Communication was hard too. Asking a question often felt like we were bothering them, even though guest requests are normal in hospitality. Breakfast really didn't match the price. I saw the owners eating fresh soft bread, several nice jams, and well-presented eggs, while guests got basic toast, artificially colored jam, and a bean omelet. Some people may be fine with that, but not for 70k IDR, especially when you can get avocado toast with an ocean view for 35k. The grounds, animals, and nearby ocean could make this a lovely place, but the room condition and the way guests are treated need work. I once heard the owners say that “guests want everything for a small price,” as if that were the main issue. I don't see why wanting an affordable place with clean, working basics is a problem. Guests aren't asking for luxury, just a room where things aren't dirty or falling apart. More attention to maintenance and comfort would make a big difference. I'm not the first person to write about this.

The court is much more comfortable to play on than the neighboring Liga Tennis. At Liga, balls kept flying onto other courts or getting taken by monkeys, while we had a much better experience here. The price is very good, too. The owner was friendly and quick to respond. When it rained, he was happy to reschedule our time. Highly recommend!

The public pool is nice, and breakfast was good, which is why I gave it two stars. But the reception was really difficult to find, with no clear signs. In the room there was no proper blanket, just a thin sheet, so you end up either too hot or too cold. There were no toiletries, so bring your own. Also, Anjing means “quiet” in Chinese, but it wasn't quiet here at all. You could constantly hear noises from different creatures. If those things don't bother you, the stay might be fine.

A great tennis find tucked into the hotel. The court was awesome, and we played much better here than at Liga, where monkeys kept taking our balls. The owner was a really helpful guy. Five stars!
