The prayer calls in Bukittinggi ran from about 4:45am until around 8pm, with only a short quiet stretch for sleeping. There were mosques everywhere, and thin hotel walls and windows meant even earplugs didn’t block the sound. It was an interesting experience as a non-Muslim, but four nights was enough for me. For accommodation, this is probably one of the better options in town apart from the Novotel. There’s no lift, though the staff will carry your bags upstairs for a small tip, around 5000 Rp. I’d recommend it if you don’t want a hostel.

A boutique-style hotel in the city, with a small number of rooms. I’d recommend booking ahead in high season. It’s one of the nice hotels in Bukittinggi. Traveling with us #reisgidsnijar #gidsinsumatra

We stayed for 3D/2N on a quick visit to Bukittinggi. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean with good wifi. It’s well located, within walking distance of Pasar Atas and Jam Gadang. Just be careful on the stairs.
