Fishermen's Guesthouse

We could watch the sunrise from bed, thanks to the lovely sea views from our spacious, clean room. The whole stay felt peaceful, and breakfast had a tasty range of fresh local choices. A highlight was being invited by the local family to learn about their customs during a special ceremony. For a comfortable homestay in Amed with a cultural experience and beautiful surroundings, I’d happily recommend Fishermans Guesthouse.

The room was small and clean, and we were looking for a quiet, simple place by the sea where we could get to know our hosts. Fishermans guesthouse gave us the caring, sharing atmosphere we hoped for. We stayed four nights and felt welcomed like family. When we were both a bit sick, the owner looked after us, helped with laundry, and offered to take us to a doctor or hospital if needed. He and his wife and family were always ready to help, and he took time to talk with us. We had some lovely massages, were invited spontaneously for breakfast and lunch twice, and on our last evening were treated to fish barbecue made with fish the owner had caught that day. We’d recommend it to anyone after a peaceful, simple stay with a chance to meet the family.

Good internet, a comfy bed, a nice shower, tasty food, and a reliable motorbike made our stay easy. We rented a scooter from Putu and liked the ride between Fishermen's and downtown. There are plenty of good restaurants, viewpoints, and beaches along the coastal road. It’s far enough from the main town to feel local, but still easy to get around, and we had a great time at this authentic family homestay. We’ll stay again. The family are helpful and sweet. Putu knows English best and is the main contact, but he also works down the road. Please be patient with the rest of the family on site. They’ll do what they can to help, and Putu keeps his phone with him while working.

I didn’t stay at the guesthouse, but we ate regularly at their warung. Ibu cooked a delicious variety of homemade dishes, served in generous portions with friendly service and no fuss. They even kindly gave me and my family scooter rides to and from our nearby accommodation. Fishermen Warung was a highlight of our time in Amed, and we’ll always treasure those memories.
