What stood out most was the staff. From reception and housekeeping to the gardeners, pool attendants, and restaurant team, everyone went above and beyond. Tito and Gusti at Orca Dive centre arranged snorkeling trips to Blue Lagoon, nearby islands, and Amed. We also spent hours by the beautiful pool and relaxing on the cabanas. Our beachfront room had magnificent views of the ocean and islands, with plenty of space and a lovely outdoor shower and bathroom. Breakfast à la carte was included, delicious, and offered lots of choice every morning. Lunch and dinner were excellent value, and the spa was sensational. We had an out-of-this-world three-hour couples treatment for our anniversary, and the ginger tea afterward was a lovely touch. Puri Bagus is right on the water and about a ten-minute stroll from the main strip, a perfect spot to rest and relax. We saw social media complaints about work on the beach and pathways, but it didn’t trouble us at all. Do yourself a favour and check into Puri Bagus!

This was our second stay, and it was just as good as the first. They told us about the building work in advance and offered us the option of another hotel. I’m glad we kept our plans. We barely noticed the noise, apart from the occasional truck carrying rocks for the 6 km seafront walkway. Mostly, all we heard was the fantastic sound of waves. It’s a wonderful place where you feel like a person rather than a number. We’ll definitely be back.

I brought a large yoga group to Puri Bagus Candidasa and never regretted choosing it. We were welcomed like VIPs and given fresh local sweets made right in the lobby. Rooms were clean and spacious, housekeeping was excellent, and the restaurant served delicious meals from breakfast through dinner. The oceanfront location was the highlight, with a clean beach and turquoise water that made us not want to get out. We also loved the magical evening Balinese dance performance. The staff, atmosphere, and attention to detail were all 10/10. Thank you for such warm hospitality. We’ll definitely come back!

We stayed in mid November, when it was very quiet, and found the resort beautifully appointed. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean, with comfortable double beds and a half-outdoor private shower. Keep an eye out for mosquitoes at night and close the bathroom door. When my cousin found the AC wasn’t cold enough, Suparthawa helped move us to an oceanfront room and brought extra fans so we’d be comfortable. Madana, the pool boy, greeted us cheerfully each morning, set up the cabana, and watched our things while we swam. I had foot reflexology and a facial with Sariana, who treated my feet, face, arms, hands, shoulders, and legs with lovely-smelling lotions, massage, and pressure. Breakfast was included, with an egg station, fresh fruit, and a changing selection of hot and cold food. Service was quick for anyone heading out early to scuba dive or snorkel, and it’s a wonderful location for those activities. I went snorkeling with an independent guide who was friendly and reasonably priced. He also offers other tours that might interest you. Government work to reduce sand loss meant construction machines were moving rocks on one side of the beach. It was a little noisy, but necessary to reduce erosion. I’d come back.
