Lay Day Hostel Canggu

I had a really nice stay. My four-bed dorm was empty, so I pretty much had the villa next to the hostel to myself. If you’re into parties and a social atmosphere, this is the place. Thanks to Bella and the guys working in the villa, they did a great job.

The people at Lay Day Canggu made our stay so special. Caity, the manager, was kind and helped whenever we needed anything, even sorting out transport to our next stop. The bar team were lovely and welcoming, especially Erick, Jack Sparrow and Ari, and the reps helped make the whole visit enjoyable. We left Canggu feeling like we had a family there, not just friends. The rooms were tidy, clean and spacious too. Thank you, Lay Day Canggu ❤️

Alid and Ari helped make the place feel welcoming and fun, and I felt at home with the staff. The rooms were modern, lovely and very clean. I especially liked the pool area, which was great for relaxing during the day or partying later. It was easy to meet people and make friends. I had an amazing stay and will definitely be back.

Josh Fuller really stood out during my stay. He was attentive, helpful, and clearly worked hard to make sure guests were comfortable. He was the anchor of my visit and brought real care and professionalism to the hostel. I stayed at Lay Day for a few nights, my first hostel experience, and I’m glad I gave it a try. It creates the lively Western-style backpacker scene it’s known for, with daily activities, drinking games, and a pub crawl that many travellers clearly enjoy. If that high-energy social vibe is what you want, it delivers. I travel at a quieter pace and come from a different cultural background, so I sometimes felt a little outside the main social circle. The atmosphere leans strongly toward a familiar Western backpacker style, which works well for many people but didn’t always give me natural ways to connect. That’s nobody’s fault, just different worlds meeting differently. I did meet a few lovely people, and the experience helped me understand the kind of community I’d like to find on my travels, with more room for different cultures, personalities, and ways of connecting. Some activities that don’t revolve around drinking might help bring a broader mix of guests together. Lay Day is a good fit for the crowd it caters to, and people who enjoy a lively Western backpacker setting will feel at home. Even for someone travelling differently, there can still be useful insight and meaningful moments.
