I only stayed one night before moving to another homestay on the same street. There are plenty to choose from. The ceiling fan didn’t work, and although the shower worked, there was nowhere to hang it, which was uncomfortable after a long trip. The owner was rude and showed little empathy. The room internet didn’t work, and when I asked for it to be fixed, the owner seemed surprised and argued that I could use the internet in the bakery.

I’ve stayed at Oka’s Homestay several times and like the spacious rooms and comfortable bed. The water pressure is strong, which is hard to find in Bali, and I like that the bathroom opens up. The cleaning lady is so cute. The bathroom does look a little neglected and could use a renovation.

It felt like staying in an empty, ugly building. There’s no pantry or cutlery, and no amenities. The walls are thin, the doors bang noisily, and the building seems poorly made. It wasn’t clean, there was mold on the wall and the pillow smelled. Housekeeping didn’t have cleaning chemicals. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We were told checkout was at 12, but someone knocked at 11 asking us to leave. There was no staff around to answer questions or even give us the WiFi password. They said breakfast was included, but it wasn’t. The place was dirty everywhere, we got just one towel for two people, and the small blanket didn’t even cover the bed. It was only okay.

The pastries are really good, and breakfast is reasonably priced. Pro tip, get the whole banana cake loaf instead of a slice. So worth it.
